Good Afternoon Pico Canyon Families,

As we begin planning for next school year, we know that some families may be thinking about teacher placements. While we understand the desire to request a specific teacher, we are not able to accept individual teacher requests.

Please know that a great deal of thought and care goes into creating balanced and supportive classroom communities. We consider many factors, including students’ personalities, strengths, needs, and peer dynamics. Our grade-level teams work closely together, and all students benefit from the shared expertise, collaboration, and creativity of our teachers. In some cases, students may even have opportunities to learn from multiple teachers within their grade level during the year.

Your child’s current teacher and I welcome any information you would like to share that may help us better understand your child as we make placement decisions for next year.

Thank you for your ongoing support of Pico Canyon.

Sincerely,
Michele Krantz
Principal

Site Council Election Update

We had two parents nominated for our next School Site Council term (2026-27 - 2027-28), Amelia Walters and Mariana Abraham. Since there were two nominees and two positions, no election will be needed. Both will serve. Congratulations, Mrs. Walters and Ms. Abraham. We appreciate you both.

We would greatly appreciate your help if you are available and willing to lend a hand. Your support truly makes a difference. If you can join us, please check in at the front office when you arrive. Thank you so much for your time and support.

Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week

Let’s Celebrate Our Amazing Teachers & Staff - May 4-8, 2026!
Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week is here, and we’re ready to show our gratitude to the incredible team that makes Pico Canyon shine!
Each day, students are invited to participate in a special activity to help brighten their teacher’s week. A flyer with these daily details was sent home last week.

  • Monday: Bring a flower (real, handmade, or drawn)
  • Tuesday: Wear your teacher’s favorite color
  • Wednesday: Donate a school supply for your classroom
  • Thursday: Make a card, draw a picture, or write a poem
  • Friday: Bring a treat (sweet, savory, or salty)

Let's come together to spoil our teachers and staff, celebrate their dedication and fill their week with joy and appreciation.

Thanks to our fabulous PTA, a delicious lunch will be provided for 100 staff members each day.

Thank you to all of the Pico families who have donated to our Snack & Sip Station, which is stocked with treats and beverages for staff to enjoy throughout the day. If you'd like to contribute, please sign up HERE. Drop off donations in the Library Community Room on Monday, May 4. Thank you for making the celebration extra special!
