Good Afternoon Pico Canyon Families,

We are looking forward to seeing our families during conferences this week. Please note that the next three days are minimum days, with students being released at 12:05 p.m. each day. We kindly ask that you make arrangements for on-time pickup, as our office is not set up to supervise students after dismissal. We understand early dismissal can be challenging for families, and we are grateful for your help in making sure students are picked up on time.

Our lost and found has already filled up with many items. We encourage you to stop by and check for any belongings your child may be missing. While we are working to return items that are labeled, most do not have names. Be sure to watch the fun video below from our office staff to see if you can spot something that belongs to your child.

Spring break begins this Thursday. We hope you enjoy a wonderful and restful break. If you are traveling, we wish you safe and enjoyable travels.

Thank you for your ongoing support of Pico Canyon.

Sincerely,
Michele Krantz
Principal
Mon-Wed, 3/30- 4/1 Minimum Days

🥗School Lunch and Food Drop-Off Policy Reminder🍕

We have recently seen an increase in food being dropped off for students during the school day, whether due to forgotten lunches or as treats. We would like to remind families that all students have access to free meals in our cafeteria each day. While we understand that some students may not always prefer the menu options, nutritious meals are always available. Our cafeteria team can also accommodate dietary restrictions and allergy needs.

If a student forgets their lunch, we encourage them to eat the school lunch provided. Even if it is not their preferred option, this helps build independence and responsibility for remembering their lunch in the future.

If food does need to be brought to school for a student, it must be delivered to the table outside the office and labeled with their name, room number, and teacher. For safety and supervision reasons, please do not pass food to students through gates or at doorways. Families may only bring food for their own child.
To support student health and safety, students may not share food with others. We are seeing an increase in this and need your help reinforcing these expectations.

At this time, we are not able to accept food deliveries from services such as DoorDash or Uber Eats for students.

Thank you for your support in helping us maintain a safe and consistent school environment.

Thie Week's Attendance Challenge.

Our next Attendance Challenge is this Wednesday, April 1st. Teachers will draw 5 names of students who are present and on time to receive a certificate for a free meal. Two students will receive a limited edition Pico keychain for their backpack. We have several other designs for the coming week's attendance challenges.

Friday, we had our lowest tardy day of the year, with 26 students arriving late. See the video below to see how clear the valet line was at 8:00 am. Thank you for getting our Huskies to school on time. It truly makes a difference in their day.

📸Spring Pictures📸

We are having our final Picture Event of the year! Spring photos for all students will be on April 14 and 15. Please look for an order form to come home this week. You may also place orders online using THIS LINK
Spring Photos

What to expect on picture day

  1. When an order is placed online, the parent/guardian will receive a camera pass via email. This can either be printed or texted to the student and brought to picture day. The photographer will photograph the printed camera pass along with the student.
  2. If a student is not able to print their camera pass, that is not a problem. We will match up the student to their order manually in the production process.
  3. A parent may order from the flyer up until 24 hours after picture day. After 24 hours, the online ordering access may close. This will allow our imaging team to "Pull" all orders submitted and match them with the students photographed.
  4. When pictures are returned to school, all students that purchased pictures will receive their prepaid package. Any student that was photographed but did not order a package, will receive a "Proof" (PX) of their picture that was taken on picture day.
All proof packages offer parents a second opportunity to order prints. All orders are subject to shipping and handling costs of up to $8.50 and will be shipped directly to home.

Cafeteria Support

We are looking for a few extra hands to help support our TK–K students during lunch and brunch each week in the cafeteria. Support includes helping students open food packaging, providing reminders to walk safely in the cafeteria, and assisting with trash and clean up. We would greatly appreciate your help if you are available and willing to lend a hand. Your support truly makes a difference. If you can join us, please check in at the front office when you arrive. Thank you so much for your time and support.

Whether your experiment is simple or complex, all Huskies are encouraged to participate while working safely and as independently as possible.

To participate, scan the QR code on the flyer or complete the Google Form application HERE by Thursday, April 16. All grade levels are welcome! Up to two students may work together, and partners must be in the same grade level, as awards are honored by grade. Each participating student must still submit a separate application.

Projects are due on Wednesday, May 6, with participant setup taking place in the MPR from 2:00–6:00 PM on May 6. Completed projects will be proudly displayed during Open House on Thursday, May 7.

Project topics must be presented in the form of a question, so start brainstorming and get ready to investigate!
