Good Afternoon Pico Canyon Families,

I hope you had a wonderful first week of school. I was sad to miss the opening of school, as I was out sick, but I am so excited to be back on Monday to see our Huskies!

As we begin our second week of school, we are excited to continue building independence and confidence with our students. Beginning this week, parents and guardians will say their goodbyes at the gates in the morning.

We know this can be a big transition, especially for our littlest Huskies. A quick goodbye is best, and we ask that you trust our team to support your child as they transition into a positive start to their day. Our wonderful 6th grade leaders will be ready to help walk our TK students from the gates to the TK yard and our kindergarten students to the playground.

Thank you for helping us make morning arrival smooth, safe, and positive for all students. We appreciate your partnership as we help our Huskies start each day with confidence!

Have a wonderful rest of your weekend.

Sincerely,
Michele Krantz
Principal

🐾The Husky Promise Expectations🐾

Monday and Tuesday, 1st - 6th grade classes will walk through our Expectation Stations, where staff will review what is expected of our Huskies in various areas of the campus. Below is our Husky Promise Matrix. We encourage you to partner with us by reviewing these expectations together.

🚨Emergency Drills🚨

This Thursday, we will have our first safety drill of the school year. It will be a fire drill. Schools are required to practice one safety drill each month, which may include fire, earthquake, and lockdown drills. The goal of these practices is to help students and staff feel prepared and know what to do in the event of an emergency.

When an evacuation is required, our students evacuate to the blacktop on the playground. Teachers take attendance, and our team practices accounting for everyone on campus.

In the event of a real emergency, ParentSquare will be our first form of communication with families. If the emergency requires families to pick up students, reunification will take place at the park gate. Please make sure that anyone listed on your child’s emergency contact list in Aeries understands that we can only release students to approved adults after verifying their ID.

If an emergency occurs, it is extremely important that families do not block our main driveway, as emergency vehicles must be able to enter and exit safely. Please know that our staff is prepared to stay with your child until every student has been reunited with their family.

We hope we never have to use this system, but just in case, you can rest assured that we have a plan and will always put student safety first.
